Hermes Birkin: Fake or Real?
A few years ago I wrote an article regarding real and fake Hermes birkin. At that time the easy way to find out if a Birkin is real is to check out the font on the metal plate in front and the handle shape at the back.
Replica factories picked it up very quickly – it seems most fake Birkin got the right font metal plate now. What Hermes and other designer brands do is to change their design from time to time. Somehow I think it is their strategy to make sure replica factories can never get it right.
So if you see different font on the metal plate, it doesn’t mean it is a fake. Make sure you check the year and the font.
Regarding the shape of handle-end, avoid very rounded ones.
How many stitching on handle end? Some said 7 and some said 8. I have seen both 7 and 8 stitching on real Hermes birkin. I also see 6 stitching on Birkin bags that were made after 2010. No matter how many stitching it has the top 3 stitchings are always double stitched.
Authentic – 7 stitching: slightly rounded shape

Authentic – 7 stitching: diamond shape
