This Dior Gaucho bag was a hit in 2006. There are a lot of celeb that carry this bag around downtown.
Among all the Dior bags I like the design of this gaucho bag the most. The aged dark red leather looks so vintage. And I am not the only one that think this way.
I actually bought the smallest one in red from Selfridge. It costs £595. Here is the authentic one’s photo:
I did a comparison between my bag and those selling online.
The medallion, key, hardware, lining, tag, serial number and stitching of these fake are similar to the authentic bags.
The only big difference is leather and trim. The authentic leather is glossy and vintage, while the fake bag leather is distressed but not glossy. The authentic trim should be naturally dirty. Most fake bags have a clean tan trim!
This is the most authentic-look replica I found: the tan trim is as dirty as the authentic one. But this dark red leather is not glossy at all! Plus this red color is lighter than the authentic dark red!
This is a poor fake: this red is lighter than the real dark red! And that clean tan trim speaks out its fake status!
For this replica, the trim is dirty but it is dirty in a wrong way! The leather is glossy in this bag, but Dior never made this color at all!
For all replica bags, black is the most safe color because black is always black, it won’t be lighter or darker in color.
It is quite difficult to tell its authenticity from this photo as everything looks so right except its listing price! The only giveaway is the leather. It is black, but it should be more glossy!
